To coordinate, carry-out and supervise the daily general accounting functions of the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation. To provide budgetary advice and direction to Department Managers. To perform a variety of complex and routine accounting functions in support of the Corporation’s accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration or Accounting degree.
  • Minimum of three years in a not-for-profit setting, hospital, or professional accounting. Grant Accounting and budgeting. Knowledge of GAAP. Supervisory experience including payroll, 401(k), pension, and accounts payable.
  • Familiarity with computerized accounting systems and hospital/fund accounting.
  • Possess strong leadership and organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises the daily operations of the general accounting department. Assures that the department is functioning per established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring timeliness and accuracy of payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash receipts.
  • Supports preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Leads the preparation and response coordination of annual audits.
  • Supervises and/or prepares reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  • Establishes general ledger accounts and maintenance of those accounts in the current accounting software.
  • Oversees Cash Flow and daily investments.
  • Delegates authority for the receipt, disbursement, banking, protection, and custody of funds.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports and grant reports.
  • Prepares monthly and annual cash flow projections.
  • Responsible for the overall operations of the general accounting computer system software in the form of software updates, user problems, and notifying proper technical personnel for support as needed.
  • Prepares special reports and projects as requested by the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Audit and prepare state reports on state grants, advise and assist department heads with financial reconciliation of state grants.
  • Ensure that all BBAHC accounting and accounting-related policies are adhered to and encourage individual employee growth and development.
  • Provides accounting support on other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • This job description is not intended to be all inclusive and employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  • Develops departmental budget submissions to align with the BBAHC strategy map.
  • Mentors, coaches, and counsels staff to develop excellent contribution to the BBAHC mission and assist in understanding the individual’s role in the strategic plan. Fully documents staff issues. Resolves staff issues at the lowest level possible. Keeps supervisor aware of staff issues. Develops and timely submits annual staff performance evaluations aligned to the BBAHC strategy map.
  • Maintains full compliance with the laws, regulations, grant terms, and BBAHC policies pertinent to the department. Ensures department activities meet all applicable accrediting body standards and CMS Conditions of Participation. Actively avoids fraud, waste, and abuse.  Seeks methods and activities to enhance BBAHC revenues.
  • Directs departmental Performance Improvement initiatives. Tracks and reports accomplishments. Develops and oversees Quality Calendar activities.
  • Responds to all Customer Comments and/or RMEs presented in a complete and timely manner.
  • Ensures department procedures align with and support organizational policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary TBD, DOE. Position includes airfare to and from Dillingham and lodging while working under temp or temp to hire status.  If converted to permanent status full benefits package will be offered, but lodging will become your own responsibility.
