OUTPATIENT SERVICES DIRECTOR

 

Juneau, AK / Permanent / $80,000 to $85,000 Per Year DOE

The Outpatient Services Director ensures a high level of quality care and services for clients by coordinating and communicating operational procedures to staff within various departments. This person creates, directs, and implements the policies and procedures for the outpatient services division of Juneau Youth Services. They also Monitor, evaluate, and modify programs while adhering to JYS guidelines and standards. They are responsible for creating functional strategies and specific objectives for the outpatient programs and develop budgets, policies and procedures to support the functional infrastructure of the programs.

Reports to: Chief Clinical Officer
Supervises: all community and office based management staff

Representative Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Chief Clinical Officer to develop and strengthen Juneau Youth Services continuum of care including new program development.
  • Provides supervision and guidance to the outpatient program coordinators.
  • Provides clinical supervision to clinical staff as needed.
  • Provides on-the-job training, consultation, and guidance to program staff.
  • Provides and documents direct supervision, coaching and mentoring to staff to support skill acquisition, role competency and professional development.
  • Provides conflict resolution and crisis intervention as needed in situations involving staff, clients, families and other agencies.
  • Ensures consistency of care and service philosophy in treatment programs.
  • Oversees the monitoring, auditing, and review of all treatment interventions and individual treatment plans; establishes systems that ensure the quality of treatment interventions and individual treatment plans.
  • Participates in the screening, selection, orientation, training, guidance and evaluation of new clinical staff.
  • Ensures client records meet privacy and confidentiality standards.
  • Facilitates meetings with clinical staff to address areas of concern and to ensure overall clinical cohesion.
  • Receives, investigates and resolves quality-related complaints and grievances.
  • Active leader in the accomplishment of service delivery and client outcomes related Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) goals and objectives within the agency.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Expertise

  • Thorough working knowledge of the etiology, assessment, treatment and recovery of youth experiencing emotional, behavioral and functional disorders, including co-occurring or substance abuse/chemical dependency disorders.
  • Thorough working knowledge of child and adolescent development, family systems and cultural differences, parent training, psychopathology, and mental illness.
  • Thorough working knowledge of laws and regulations effecting behavioral health treatment of youth.
  • Thorough knowledge of performance and quality improvement processes and principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of group systems and processes, working with individuals in a group system.
  • Time management skill.
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal and state regulations.
  • Ability to organize, evaluate, and present information effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college in psychology, social work, counseling, family therapy or closely related field. Minimum three (3) years experience providing behavioral health services to youth and families; five (5) years preferred.
  • Must be clinically licensed in the State of Alaska.
  • Current Alaska drivers license and auto insurance per agency standards.
  • Clearance of state and federal background checks.
  • Completion of required trainings according to established timelines per job class.
